5 Ayurvedic Herbs for Better Immunity

Published on October 22, 2026

In Ayurveda, immunity is called vyadhikshamatva, the body’s natural ability to resist imbalance. Rather than reacting to illness, Ayurveda focuses on strengthening ojas (vitality) through daily food, routine and a few well-chosen herbs. Here are five classical herbs worth knowing.

1. Amla (Indian Gooseberry)

Amla is one of nature’s richest sources of vitamin C and antioxidants. It is traditionally used as a rasayana, a rejuvenating herb, and supports immunity, digestion and healthy skin and hair. Many families take it daily as a juice or tablet.

2. Moringa

Often called the “miracle tree”, Moringa leaves are packed with vitamins A, C and E along with calcium, iron and potassium. Its nutrient density makes it a gentle everyday support for energy and natural defences.

3. Neem

Neem has been valued for centuries for its cleansing, antibacterial and antioxidant properties. It is traditionally used to support clear skin, oral hygiene and the body’s natural balance.

4. Ashwagandha

Stress weakens resilience. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that helps the body manage stress, supports energy levels and promotes restful sleep, all of which play a role in healthy immunity.

5. Triphala

Ayurveda teaches that good health begins in the gut. Triphala, a blend of Amla, Haritaki and Bibhitaki, supports healthy digestion and gentle detoxification, helping the body absorb nutrients well.

Simple daily habits that help

  • Start the day with a glass of warm water.
  • Eat freshly cooked, seasonal meals and avoid overeating.
  • Sleep and wake at regular times.
  • Spend a few minutes on breathing exercises or a short walk outdoors.

Consistency matters more than quantity. Small, daily rituals build lasting strength.
